Introduction to Track and
Field Summer Camp

For the first time ever we are very excited to offer an Introduction to Track and Field Summer Camp! This camp is open to children ages 9-12 who are new to the sport, and children would like a little extra practice. Each camp member will receive a Kajaks athletic t-shirt and freezee for participating. 

 

The Introduction to Track and Field Summer Camp will be run in week long sessions in July, Monday through Friday, 9 - 12 PM. Each day a track and field event will be taught and practiced, in addition to fun games and activities.

Event Schedule

 

Monday: Sprints, Jumps

Tuesday: Long Distance, Hurdles

Wednesday: Relays, Throws

Thursday: Long Distance, High Jump (with modification for Covid-19 safety guidelines)

Friday: Multi-Event Fun Day. Includes: Freezes

TIMING:
8:45am:  Coaches on site - athletes start to arrive

9am: Program gets underway

10:15am:  Bring your healthy snack for this break time

11:45am:  Cool down and clean up

12pm: Parents & Guardians are on-site for pick-up

Our coaching team has taken extra precautions to make sure that athletes are safe and healthy during our summer camps.  We ask athletes to please bring a face mask to wear during parts of the morning when social distancing is not available. Athletes will have access to on-site hand sanitizer to clean between activities. 

 

Athletes should wear comfortable clothing for moving and running, and good running shoes at every practice.  A hat on sunny days and a light jacket on cooler days is also recommended.   Everyone should bring a water bottle and a healthy snack for mid-day (please no nuts!).

 

 We expect all athletes to bring their best energy and enthusiasm to camp everyday.  Our coaches will share an outline for our group social contract we will make together for a respectful, inclusive training environment for all participants.
