JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT
9 to 13 year old
A gradual introduction to the sport of Track & Field and Cross Country. Open to children 9 to 13 yo who want to try the sport or who want to enhance their skills playing other sports. No prerequisite to register.
What we offer:
They get to try all the various disciplines within our sport: Sprints, Hurdles and Relays, Jumps, Throws, Endurance & Walks. Athletes can specialize towards certain disciplines by age 12/13.
Once comfortable, athletes are encouraged to test their new skills in competition. Competition season is typically from
May to July and there are opportunities to compete at in-club meets or other BC Athletics sanctioned meets.
Goal of the program:
To provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn physical literacy skills and stay active.
At the end of the program, children will gain a general understanding of track & field events and begin to find their focus as they transition to their next phase of athletic development.

Junior Development program has several intakes for Seasonal members.

Winter Track and Field - January to March Location: Clement Track, Minoru

Spring Track and Field - April to July Location: Clement Track, Minoru

Fall seasonal training ( choice of one of the ff: )

Fall Track and Field - September to October Location: Clement Track, Minoru

Cross Country - September to October Location: Varies

Practice schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 4:30pm - 5:45pm ( may run longer in warmer weather )
Some Saturdays 10:00am-11:30am may be added for Spring session
(specialty training).

Pentathlon is comprised of five events: hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and a middle distance event (600m or 800m).
